Aftercare Timeline

Days 1-7

Fresh Tattoo Care

  • Leave the initial wrap on for 1 hour, or as advised by your artist
  • Gently wash with unscented soap and lukewarm water
  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel — never rub
  • Apply a healing product recommended by your artist
  • Repeat 2-3 times daily
  • For any extensive swelling, you can take ibuprofen

Do NOT re-wrap, use plastic wrap, or pick at any peeling skin.

Days 7-21

Peeling & Healing

  • Continue gentle washing; moisturize if needed — don't overdo it, as you can over-moisturize
  • Expect some peeling — this is normal. Do NOT pick or scratch
  • The area may feel itchy — pat gently to relieve itch
  • Keep out of direct sunlight
  • Avoid soaking in water (baths, pools, ocean) for 3-4 weeks

If you suspect your tattoo is infected, please see a doctor and contact your artist and our staff immediately.

Days 21-40

Long-Term Healing

  • Avoid direct sun exposure
  • Continue moisturizing when needed
  • Avoid tight clothing rubbing directly on the tattoo
  • Still try to avoid swimming
Days 40-60

Fully Healed

  • Your tattoo should be fully healed by now
  • Keep moisturizing when needed
  • Apply sunscreen anytime you'll be in the sun to keep your ink looking its best
